This past weekend we did one of the possibly most L.A. things ever and hiked Griffith Park. The trail we chose is located near the Old Zoo and the Merry-Go-Round, which are two cool landmarks not enough people know about. The Old Zoo is quite literally that; it’s where the Zoo was before it moved to it’s current location. If you’re a crazy Parks and Recreation fan like I am, you may know this as the Pawnee Zoo when Leslie married the penguins. Even though this is our first non-Disney focused post, we have to point out that the Merry-Go-Round is actually the inspiration for Disneyland. You can hear more about this on the podcast when we post it. After the hike we headed to one of the many local breweries in L.A., Golden Road. We went on President’s Day right when it opened which explains the lack of other people, but it’s normally crowded on the weekend. We’ll have a full rundown of the hike, the Old Zoo, the Merry-Go-Round and Golden Road on the podcast, but if you find yourself in L.A. and want to do as the locals do, this isn’t a bad start.
We are a young couple living in Los Angeles. We try to make the most of our weekends by checking out random sites, doing standard touristy things, drinking craft beer, eating delicious food, and visiting Disneyland.
